    Norsewear: High quality woolen clothing

    by salisbury3933 Written Dec 30, 2006

If you like woolen clothing, Norsewear in the small Hawke's Bay town of Norsewood is an excellent place to go. Norsewear clothing is available throughout NZ, but this is the factory shop. Worth a look if you are passing through.

    ?: Leadlight & more

And indeed it was great inside!
It was delightful and the leadlight was beautifully crafted and exquisite, from small items to huge hanging mobiles with crystals incorporated into the design. I think if it wasn’t for the fact we had so far to travel and the glass so fragile, I could easily have found something to buy here.

What to pay: the small pieces of leadlight were amazingly reasonably priced, especially considering the glass work in it and the time to make.

?? (across the road from Norsewood shop): Gorgeous leadlight work, giftware and more

On the outside, the shop is old and looks like it hadn’t been painted in many decades (unusual for a NZ building - most in excellent repair, no matter where you go) and there was a lot of rubble around it, but decided to go in because it advertised gifts and leadlight, and I thought it might be better looking inside.

Norsewear (New Zealand Natural Clothing): Factory outlet

    by Kate-Me Written Apr 26, 2004

Norsewood is just about the only shop in town (a little on the outskirts) but that's not necessarily what makes it special.
Its clothing is of very high quality, good range, and though the prices seem quite high (as most NZ outdoor goods, and quality goods) they at least had several racks of specials for bargain hunters like us (though a $60 triple layer thermal skivvy we got was only a bargain to us as there were others there for over $100)

    It's open 7 days a week, Mon - Fri 8.30 am - 5 pm, and weekends & public hols 9 am - 5 pm.

What to buy: Woollen clothing, triple layer thermal wear such as skivvies, scandanavian style jumpers, woollen gloves, hats, socks, etc. Also some souvenirs.

What to pay: It's not cheap - but you get what you pay for, and the quality is rather good.

What to buy: Gifts, leadlight, mobiles, many pretty things.
