The Platter Place

Not really anywhere near the "beaten track", this Café is worth the effort if you spend some days in Hamilton and have access to a car.
Really nice food and drinks. Primarily a kitchen that prepares platters for parties and taking away. However you can dine here and they serve very trendy and nice food.
A small array of delicatessen items for sale.

What to buy: Delicatessen items, Recipe book, coffee and food.

Handbags

Not really near downtown Hamilton, and you need a car to get to it, but this shop has the most wonderful array of handbags I have seen!!
Although not really near tourist routes, if you find you spend some days in Hamilton and you buy an outfit and need to get a handbag to match, this is the place to go.

What to buy: Handbags and more handbags!! Some accessories such as scarves too. A good selection of New Zealand made handbags, made from imported Italian leathers.

What to pay: Not cheap, but quality leather handbags, around $NZD220.

Great adventure shop.

This is the best shop to buy adventure gear, clothing and equipment.
There are many Kathmandu stores around New Zealand, in the main centres.

What to buy: Polarfleece clothing, excellent quality backpacks, water bottles, holders, portable travel items/tools.

What to pay: Many times through the year Kathmandu has a big sale, and this is the best time to buy. You can often find bargain bins in the store at any time of year.
