"Aucklanders Heading South for Summer - Waikato Seasonal Disaster". --///--This could be described as a Warning or Danger, however I'm calling it a Local Custom because it really is that. Every year both at the summer and winter peak times, we in the Waikato notice the increase in traffic and traffic accidents, often caused by Aucklanders "fleeing" their city to head south to holiday places. They seem to enter the open country areas and perhaps travel too fast getting into trouble. Also, many traffic jams occur as a result of mere volume or from accidents, and in the end no one can go anywhere! Whatever, this 'phenomenon' is often spoken about and used in friendly banter between the two regions.
