There are very strict quarantine checks and heavy fines to protect NZ important agriculture from diseases and pests that can be brought in by incoming tourists.On the airplane, there will be announcement to the effect and a quarantine declaration form to ask you to tick that you are not bringing in a) meat and animal products b) seeds, plants, fruit or vegetables c) equipment used with animals or for camping d) airline food banned products. If unsure, you can declare to show the officers. If not allowed, it will be dumped into a big "amnesty" waste basket. So best not to bring any fresh food products.Processed food are allowed.
