Fondest memory: The Cable Car is one of Wellingtons oldest and most popular tourist attractions. The cable car journeys up under the motorway, through the three tunnels, past Kelburn Park and Victoria University and on to the top entrance of the city's Botanic Garden where various walks begin and where the Carter Observatory and Planetarium are located. The Cable Car Museum housing an original cable car and trailer as well as the old winding equipment is located beside the current Upland Road Station. Entry to the Museum is free. This is truly one of Wellingtons most beautiful and scenic attractions.
Favorite thing:
Go for a ride on the infamous Cable Car - one of the many exciting things in the center of Wellington to do.
Fondest memory:
My best memory is of Wellington on a good day. When the weather is at its best, you just can't beat it.
Favorite thing:
Wellington ranks as my all time favorite New Zealand city. The central city is compact and easy to get around on foot. Take the cable car for a great view or make your way up to Mount Victoria lookout. Have fun driving the narrow, winding road up!
Fondest memory:
I enjoy seeing Wellington as I drive in from the motorway. It is a very picturesque sight with the harbour and the city sitting snuggly amongst the hills.
Fondest memory: There are approximately 50 private cable cars in Wellington, (the only access some residents have to their homes), and one public cable car . It runs from the centre of the commercial area in Lambton Quay, past Victoria University and up to the top of The Botanic Garden where there is a stunning view looking out over the city.
