by ladygolfer Although this is a female strip club for guys, I am made most welcome with friends that I take along, either male or female, it is not sleezy or a grubby place in terms of nudity but a friendly, down-to-earth place - and non-stop music from Monday to Saturday 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Tidy dress and good attitude are essential Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: 147 Vivian Street, Wellington CityOther Contact: Telephone 384 7516

by Gypsy_Saskia Cuba Street has some good nightlife. Also good for shopping, many bohemian funky shops, internet cafes and the likes. Leave a Comment Theme: Nightclub

Molly Malone's is a night club in Taranaki Street, great atmosphere and full of people. It comes from an Irish beginning, so everything looks and sounds Irish.
No ripped or torn jeans I would say; or rough clothes in general. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: Taranki Street

Courtenay Place in downtown Wellington is Party zone a good half mile of non stop Bars and night clubs, resturants and cafe's open from Dawn till Dawn there is every thing that you could possibly want. Cafe food is as varient as the ethic community is made up of from chinese to mongolian Favourite place's! For a spot of the Irish you cannot beat Molly Malones or Kitty O' Shea's , for real party fun , the best is The Big Easy and Shooters, but there is a huge number of places to go and see.
Dress to dance, Gym shoes, Black jeans are generally not acceptable in all of the night spots , however the cafe's and resturants are generally cool about what you wear. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: Courtenay Place is to the east of the town hall , a terminus for all the bus routes , a pure mecca for party time, but from that Cuba Street,Willis Street and Lambton Quay all offer great cafe's and rOther Contact: addresses and photo's to follow

Not really a night out's entertainment but a lovely time full-in - go to Palace Tavern (Victoria Street) and put some coins in the juke box it has a jolly great selection! (Yes there is a bar and a mini casino and MAYBE food? But I go there for the JUKE BOX!) Actually it can be pretty quiet otherwise. THE JUKE BOX! (also it's central, near the sky tower, not far from Queen Street etc.) From the outside the way it's lit up looks a LITTLE bit like a Vegas sign might.
Not sure. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingDirections: Victoria Street, opposite the sky tower. More later.Other Contact: Pass. More later.

I absolutely LOVE Bar of the Stars kareoke bar. One night I went club-hopping and found people to be unfriendly and or sexist. I went into Bar of the Stars Kareoke Bar and instantly was greeted by some lovely friendly people!! Most of my social circle now is made up of people from there! They have a Kareoke Shop where you can buy disks and you can sing, dance, people-watch. Do buy a drink or food though, because there is no entry charge and they need to keep running SOMEhow!! Most - but not all! - of the regulars there and definately the staff - are LOVELY! Great atmosphere. You MAY get some dodgy characters in at times but bear in mind there will be several staff working and a big strong experienced bouncer there at the door most nights! See above, I love the atmosphere and friendliness. They have a range of songs, mainly from the 80s and 90s but a couple of 70s and maybe earlier songs thrown in there too. Saturday night there is a long wait for a song, so depends if you like having more people there or not. Friday night CAN be less packed. Thursday and Wednesday lots of regulars and I find Monday to Wednesday you can get lots of songs up! FAMILIES NOTE: Sunday is 'Sunday Family Fun Day' or something like that. It is non-smoking and kids will get up and sing. Not that they are not welcome OTHER nights.
No sneakers. I know there is a dress code but I don't know much more than that about it. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: Hobson Street, near Sky City. I will find out the exact details and let you know.Other Contact: Impossible to get through on the

by benkade There are plenty of lively spots in Wellington at night, these are my best recommendations. Tatou, the Sports Cafe, Coyote, Molly Malones, the Grand, Dockside, Shed 5, the Matterhorn, the Ballroom, Motel and Q. The Matterhorn is excellent to go to if you want ot chill out. A converted tea room, it now houses the latest hip hop beats and 3 huge fire sticks stand erected outside to keep you warm. Dockside is where to go on a Friday after work, it is always packed, pumping, and has a huge dance floor. Plenty of sexy women here. The Grand and Coyote have great music, really loud, and you want groove here on Saturday nights. The Ballroom is a pool bar, with plenty of tables, you can challenge and build camraderie with your pal when you win and defend the table ensuring a good night ahead. Motel and Q are laid back, and you have to be very trendy to get in. Beautiful atmosphere.
For Wellington, no matter which bar you go to you must be wearing smart clothes. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicDirections: All bars listed are in the Central City.Other Contact: Molly Malones and Kitty O'Sheas
