Tulsi: Nice Indian Lunch Special
This places does an excellent value lunch special from $8.90 for a vegetarian curry with rice and naan bread. For meat eaters like myself it is a little more but not much more expensive.
I popped in for lunch as this is very close to my work, and the place was very busy indeed, a good sign on a Tuesday lunchtime in suburban Hutt Valley.
I enjoyed the meal and will no doubt be back soon. Sometime I'll have to test out the dinner service.
Crepes A Go Go: A Taste of France
This small delightful restaurant provides a really nice Taste of France, in the form of crepes. The chef/waiter/manager is a nice young French man, his mere accent adds to the experience. The walls are tastefully decorated with French memorabilia, making this a perfect place to eat.

Mr Ji's: Unpretentious Chinese Fare
Mr Ji's is a fairly unpretentious restaurant in Petone offering hearty Chinese fare at reasonable prices.
Plenty of volume, and all in all not a bad place to have a meal. BYO. Busy even on a Monday night.
Lone Star: Hearty Food in Good Sized Portions
This chain specialises in steaks, chicken dishes, ribs and fish dishes, all served in very generous portions. Service is good and the food tastes pretty good as well.
The Lone Star restaurant has been operating in NZ for some years now, and has hit on a very good formula, this place being very popular and very busy when we visited.
La Bella Italia: Authentic Italian
My cousin's favourite restaurant. It was started as a food importing business by an Italian family from near Sorrento and gradually the warehouse turned into a delicatessan and restaurant.
The food is very good, very authentic, the ambience is spot on, right down to handsome young Italian waiters asking if you would like dolce.
A touch on the pricey side mind - I was glad my cousin flashed her plastic.
Plenty of flair, a very pleasant experience.
Esplanade seafood restaurant: Good seafood
We stopped in here on a Sunday night and were treated to some decent seafood.
Unfortunately there were no oysters when we stopped in, but we had some mussels, squid, chowder and seafood wontons.
Decent at the price without being especially great.
