KAZU: First class Japanese
Well, the food and service was excellent. Never get used to the habit of seeing people bow so low for me though. But when I returned on a more busy day, they were not to happy to accomodate for just one person. Duh.

This is a lovely little cafe tucked away in a new housing complex (but it was there first) sitting over the water at Evan's Bay. You cna get great views of the peninsula, see yachts sailing and planes taking off and landing from the airport nearby. Occasional canoes drift underneath, and the food is wonderful. Prices fairly moderate considering the setting. You have to park over the road however. Don't really have a favourite, although the pasta is always good.
Fiebigs is our favourite cafe and is located on the edge of the C.B.D and in the heart of Wellingtons political, government and judicial precinct. Fiebigs combines a warm buzzy atmosphere with delicious fresh seasonal food, excellent wine and cool sounds. Two open fires, a small bar and a garden courtyard for summer dining. Bookings recommended.
There are quite a few favourite restaurants in Wellington, that I like; so for the life of me, can't picture just one in particular. The main one that comes to mind for great value for money would have to be The Genius Khan. The atmosphere is great in this place, and you actually get to pick out what you want to eat yourself, and they cook it in front of you while you wait. Well in this restaurant, you get value for money, big time, and that is what I call my favourite.
This place has way funky atmosphere, is open late (great post club stop), and serves all kinds of yummy drinks and food. mixed chips (potato, pumpkin, KUMARA!) with a pot of hot chocolate to share among friends
When I lived in Hastings, this was my regular haunt. It has such a wonderful atmosphere. The first Monday of the month, they have a poet evening. Anyone who want to recite a poem they have written, can do that. It is very amusing. Pub meals, cheap and tasty.
A friend of mine recently purchased this cafe. It is a typical New Zealand cafe where you can sausage rolls, pies, sandwiches, etc. And I was there quite a few times having my breakfast. Breakfast, the biggest sausage that I have ever had.
Castros, Logan Brown, Icon, Krazy Lounge and Arizona for breakfast. The atmosphere at Castros is something special. It is a small intimate place, with dim lights and amazing service, the waiters make your experience with their dashing wit and charming comments. At Icon, you have a beautiful view of the harbour, with wide open spcaes around you, the bar is top quality too.The Krazy Lounge is cafe style, but produces some of the most scrumptious food in Wellington.Logan Brown is an experience in itself, from the bar which encases an aquarium right the way round, so you can see fish swimming as you drink, to the elegant 1920s architecture, you will be blown away. At Logan Brown, New Zealand's premier restaurant, the roast duck is out of this world. Similarly at Castros and Icon, the duck is superb. Castros does a wonderfulchicken in pasta, and roast lamb is delectable from any of these...
I have only been there once and it was quite a while ago, but a restaurant up the Sky Tower called 'Tamarind' made quite an impression on me. The food was delicious, lovely decor, friendly and organised staff. If you go there, tell me what you think. Tamarind does not have a view from the Sky Tower but 'Orbit' which is much higher up does. I have not eaten at 'Orbit' restaurant yet.
Fujiyama Japanese BBQ RestaurantVery talented chefs cook food in front of you and play games ie throw bowls of rice at you to catch with another bowl and flip food which you have to catch in your mouth - lots of fun Mixed platters
