When in Auckland we stayed in Devonport. It's a really nice area and you can get a ferry right into the centre of the city without having to face the traffic jam over the harbour bridge. Devonport is the peninsular in the middle-ground of this picture which was taken from the Sky Tower. Leave a Comment Theme: Ship/Boat

Welington has a fine bus, and taxi service. Driving on the left can be awkward for most other nationalities. but if you drive the road signs are excellent and street maps are easy to puirchase. Plane, train or automobile - depending on your preference. Roads are well sign-posted. Public transport (trains & buses) are regular and reliable and not overcrowded (ie everyone will get a seat). Ferries to/from South Island dock in Wellington. By foot for central Wellington - its all very close. A good train system runs out to the northern suburbs and other cities and there's an excellent bus service. Taxis stands are posted around the city and are pretty honest although occasionally you might get a driver who doesn't know his way around very well. Theme: Train
