We went to this restaurant when we had planned to have dinner somewhere at the Waterfront around Queen’s Wharf and did not find the restaurants overly exciting, especially the Loaded Hog has a much nicer atmosphere in Christchurch. So we walked back towards Lambton Quay, intenting to take the bus to Courtenay Place – and this restaurant caught our eye. The menu looked inviting, so we gave the Arizona Bar and Grill a try.
We only had to wait some minutes at the bar but had not even had a sip of our drinks when we got a table. The staff were overly friendly and fast in this themed restaurant – however we asked for water twice and did not get any…
Cuisine is, as the name suggests, Mexican and Cajun inspired, and Arizona flame grill a specialty. The portions were so incredibly huge that we were already satisfied after our starters LOL In fact, we did not finish them to leave some space for the mains in our bellies ;-)
As a rough measure, I would suggest every starter serves two. Lucky me I had asked how big the pasta portions were before ordering, so I only had a small portion of penne with delicious vegetables and feta cheese – would not have needed the lots of chicken chunks in it, would order the vegetarian version next time.
Some people even ordered desserts. Do not know how they could eat more… And I can really eat big portions!
The restaurant has daily changing opening hours but – with the exception of Sunday – it is open until late, whatever this means. Extensive breakfast and brunch menu.
