Established in 1863, this department store offers real quality items and staff who are well trained, extremely well mannered and very knowledgable in their department. "Kirks" prides itself on it's famous courteous, unpressured personal service.
Oh where to start!! Mont Blanc pens, Burberry woollens, amazing kitchen utensils, Sabatier knives of course......., toys, home furnishing, clothes and much more. Oh and the makeup and skin care is outstanding. The ladies at the Clarins counter are the BEST!! So obliging and helpful, I went out of the shop laden with the product, and VERY happy too.
Well it's more expensive than normal shops, but Hey!! the items you buy there are very very high quality. You get what you paid for! Lambton Quay is the central shopping street in Wellington, lined with business towers and houses, the ground floors are usually a mix of cafes and bars, arcades and malls, up-scale and down-scale stores. This is where you'll find everything you's want to shop for. Cuba Quarter is a community of colourful, funky markets, trendy bargain shops, alternative boutiques & bustling trendy cafés. You can either sample a cup of coffee @ one of the cafés on Cuba Mall / Street or just enjoy the colourful character of the quarter. Local fashion designers can also be found here alongside with antiques and collectables. This is also a place where street buskers gather, especially during the NZ International Arts Festival in late February to mid March every 2 years. The next festival is in 2006.
