No matter what the season, N.Z. weather can be very unpredictable.Being an island means we get alot of rain so be sure to pack some rain-coats.When a southerly wind blows it can be very cold (even in summer)and when the sun is beating down you'd think you were in the middle of the desert.Don't forget the sun-block!

When travelling around New Zealand, you definately need a windbreaker jacket... handy for the odd shower of rain (did I say odd..hmmm) that we have here. A must have, is INSECT REPELLANT... there seems to be no end of the little blighters in the summer, show em some skin... and they will have a feeding frenzy!!

new zealand is a very modern country so if you are in a need there's no problem to get it there. new zealand make the best camping gear in the world so it's better to buy it there. get close, either to travel in the nature, warm, and short as well. Camping

Take clothing suitable for alpine regions. Depending upon the time of year, light stuff as well. This is a land of extremes. Take a clean pair of underwear if intending to Bungee Jump :) Photo taken at Queenstown.

If you're planning on backpacking around New Zealand it's best to travel light. The weather changes in New Zealand often eg In the South Island - it tends to get quite chilly and cold even snowing if you're lucky. In the North Island - it tends to vary from warm sunny days to cold and rainy days. Good pair of hiking boots come in handy including a waterproof jacket.

probably best to take a rucksack if you're going to travel take hiking boots, good trekking clothes, and a raincoat - it rains in NZ!! you can get stuff there, but take plenty with you if you're going to be camping off the beaten track

The north and south islands have all kinds of different weather, while it can be incredibly hot and sunny (you need tons of sun tan lotion in the Bay of Islands) you'll need some sweaters and rain gear on the south island. For US travelers a 120-240 curent converter will be required for recharging all your digital camera batteries.
