Rebo Cafe: Muffin Mania!

by nayameie

Rebo is a small cafe located in Auckland's Sky Tower. Our hotel was just around the corner so every morning we would pop into Rebo for some muffins. You might call me crazy, but those muffins were the best muffins I've ever had. Peach pecan muffins, blueberry muffins, raspberry white chocolate muffins

Auckland

by keeweechic

There are many good areas where restaurants are plentiful. Wander from one end of Ponsonby Road to the other, visit Parnell Road around Parnell Village, the Viaduct Basin downtown in the city, where the America's Cup was held and take your pick of any cuisine or just let one of the many aromas choose for you. Some of my favourites Iguacu Café & Bar - 269 Parnell Road, Parnell Brassiere style food with 4 stylish up-market bars. A great varied menu available including pastas, seafood, lamb, salmon – to name but a few. Parnell Village is found about 1.5 kms (1 mile) east of city centre. An entire suburb of Victorian timber cottages that have been preserved from developers. Highly Recommend.Planet Hollywood 3rd Floor, Sky City Metro, 291-297 Queen Street, Auckland City.International cuisine. Big helpings and the desserts are to die for.Sawadee - 42A Ponsonby Road, PonsonbyThai Cuisine -...

Tony's Lord Nelson: The Big Steak

by fishandchips

I have been coming to Tonys for 20 years or so on various business trips to Auckland. The steak here is of a good quality with a very big selection of different cuts plus a few other options for those who may not be so keen on the red meat. The restaurant is over two levels with street access from Victoria St via a small door that doesn't look too inviting. Once inside though you are hit with an old steak place feel that, or better or worse, hasn't changed that much since 1983 when I came here first. The wine list is okay with a reasonable selection of cheaper and more expensive wines. The Jim Barry Cab Sav is a good match with most of the steaks including my favourite. As you can see from the photo it's also kid friendly with smaller children's meals available. The kid's options include small steak, chicken and sea food. Easily my favourite here is the Giant T Bone done medium rare....

Asahi: Japanese Food - Whangarei

by misoluva

Tidy and lovely atmosphere. Good size meals and food is always tasty plus its really cheap as well. I shouted 4 people out for full 3 course meal including bottle of wine and sake - and came to $127. Not bad :-)Food is great and staff are really helpful despite the language barrier sometimes. The Bento box is my favourite - it is this neat tray with compartments that have different foods in each compartment. The one i ordered came with spring rolls, dim sim, sushi, cabbage salad - just yummy. Chilli beef on rice and tempura vegetables. For me this a huge meal so would recommend that you don't buy starters if you are ordering that.

The Playhouse: Great Food With Live Entertainment

by EGerard

The first thing to note is that this venue is located in a beautiful little area, more or less by itself. You're surrounded by a well maintained garden, with a small pond on one end which is absolutely swarming with a variety of water birds. Their were two ducks and a goose who evidently live there who will run up to you and quack, waiting expectantly for some morsel to be dropped. You can sit inside or outdoors, if it's nice out definetly sit outside. The food is better than average, with roughly equal cost; a full dinner meal with run you about $20-$30, brexfast and lunch is obviously less. They whip up a mean cappuchino, too; grab one and sip out on the little bridge while the birds float beneath you. Check out the nightlife section for the live portions of this venue (plays, music, etc.) They have this mixed meat and bread selection that I had for lunch once. A half dozen different...

New Zealand Natural: The most Italian New Zealand ice-cream

by Kakapo2

I am from Europe and used to at least one Italian ice-cream shop or café in every street, and all those incredible ice-cream creations like stracciatella, tiramisù, bacio, etc. etc. which do not drip after ten seconds but melt on the tongue immediately, and the service is so fast that you cannot chose and talk as fast as the staff put the scoops into the cones or cups. Sure, there are some hidden Italian ice-cream makers in the big cities but it is just the norm, and if you do not know them you normally would not spot them. It is fascinating to see with how much patience the service staff play around in the ice-cream containers with their scoop-spoons until they have shaped one ball and put it into a cone, and if you chose more than one they knock against each scoop so they glue a little bit together, as the consistency is somehow harder than of the real Italian ice-cream, but as soon as...
