Jackson's: A trip back in time-

by easterntrekker

On the drive from Franz Josepf to Christchurch we stopped at a little place called Jackson ( restuarant and town by the same name. It was loke a big old sallon from our grandad's time . They had a main bar and grill area and another cafe of sorts with sandwiches and great cakes and scones and icecream . You can eat anywhere you like. The animal heads on the walls were a little out there for me.. The scones were huge and good.

Tulsi Restuarant: Good Indian food Wellington

by easterntrekker

The food here was really good and the servings were huge . The only thing was the waiter was annoying and pushy . He was constantly trying to upsell. Anyway if I wasn't so tired I'm sure he wouldn't have gotten away with loading us and our bill up with way too much of everything.Bottom line is the food was fabulous!! Butter Chicken!!

Friendly Thai: Parnell Thai Food

by easterntrekker

This Thai reserant in Parnell is super . They are so friendly too ( hence the name I guess ) . I spilled my drink all over the plac eand they were so accomadating to move us right away. You can eat in fronyt on the main street area ( lots of work crowd) or i the back patio...or inside . Very lovely! Seafood noodle was wonderful. $12.00

Danger Zone: Food and a nightclub

by easterntrekker

The food was pretty good and very cheap . They had soecials like fish and chips for $6.00. The service was way too slow....we waited 45 minutes for a steak sandwich. the place is a nightclub too. ...looked like. There were poles around so we thought it might have been a stip club in the night. We were on route from the Bay of Islands to Auckland . Should have stayed on the highway...and found a nearer and quicker place.

Tip Photo
Bla Bla Bla Restaurant: Bla Bla Bla - for lunch

by easterntrekker

Weird name . It's a busy little spot probably because it's about the only place around if you're on a drive from Auckland to The Waipoua State Forest. Service was good and it was a cute little spot . Lots of fun colours , kind of folk art style. Panani has very good , pizza was pretty good too .

Tip Photo
Colenso Orchard and Herb Garden: Coromandel lunch stop

by easterntrekker

We found this delightful restuarant on Highway 25 on our drive to Coromandel ...others found it too since its seemed pretty popular . The food was fresh and good and you can eat it it ncie secluded little tables outside in the garden Loved the Frittata and Veg pizza

Elevation: Look out Restaurant

by easterntrekker

On the way back from the North Island , west coast beaches we stopped here for lunch . It's a little pricey but it has a deck with a look off and a great view. We just had tea and shared a thin crust pizza....which was $16.00 for a small pizza.I was a little alarmed when I saw the bottles of wine wizzing by. I would hate to think anyone one try and drive on these narrow windy roads after a few drinks.

Tip Photo
Woody's Bar and Grill: Woody's for breakfast

by easterntrekker

This is a big ground floor bar and grill ....opens right onto the street. I reminds me of a salloon out of an old western movie. The food is good and good sized servings . It was quiet on the Sat morning we were there ...just a few hikers having a late breakfast .The bus stops right in front. I loved the latte....it was huge and good!!

Tip Photo
Queen St Kabobs: Best Kabobs

by easterntrekker

I really fell in love with these hearty sandwichs. It's a huge flat bread filled with a roasted meat and sauces .There are lots of different places selling them around Auckland but I loved the chain called Queen St. Kabobs. You can have them with different types of meats. My favorite was the lamb. Why no... kiwi lamb is the best in the world!! I had it with mint and hummus and garlic yoghurt. Yum!!

Sierra Coffee: Lunch spot in Devonport

by easterntrekker

WE stoped here for a sandwich and really thought it was really nice. They have lots little places all along this main street in Devonport and its fun to sit and have a coffee , and people watch . Especially after a trek to the top of Mount Vistoria. It was only $6.0 for a panini and a salad
