and more feathered birds living close by and on the river. the small Cockayne Reserve is attached to the river, a world in its own.the common Duck and also the Paradise Duck have a ball. the grey Heron is stalking along the Riverbank, not shy at all and now and then the Kingfisher with its colourful plumage makes a visit.
black Swan's from Western Australia are welcome visitors so is the Canada Goose and amongst it all the NZ Swamp Hen..she can fly, but preferer's to run...here is a feathered melting pot of creatures,follow the river for an other 2 km, more Birdlife can be observed. bring your binoculos.
Emma always comes down to the gate to greet me when I come home and she blends in with the driveway pebbles...the others often do that too, still, Emma is the most curious. she has been a good friend to Lady and both often enjoyed sharing a sunny possie with each other
not always on the fence...no, no, we have our possies too. some sleep on Wal's bed, some sit on the CD player..warm bottom if you ask, the Koalas hanging around the lamppost hehehehe, and Garfield in the bathroom...he often is in a bad mood when he hadn't had his pizza fuel. anyway, he's alright though

when I bought the Property, a lonely figure of the Backyard and quite sickly. I bruned her back, got rid of the disease and dead wood and after 2 years of nursing, she thanked me with one bag of apples.....in the last 3 years the whole neighbourhood gets a bag each
fly into town, not often to see and that behaviour is quite unexplained. Wood Pigeons are NZ Native Pigeons, 2 1/2 times bigger then the normal Pigeon and in early times, supplement food for the hunting Maori People.

last week I've seen Spoonbills, wading in the low tide, feeding on small crabs.
Christmas Decoration is a real Local Custom here, many Housowners 'competing' for the Neighbourhoods honour. it looks georgous at nite, but I thought this one looks even good during the day
