I have listed Caffe Roma as a breakfast place as it offers an all day breakfast. Having said that they have a separate lunch menu so are not limited to just breakfast stuff. Roma is based in an old Mens club just down the road from Rydges Hotel (formerly Noahs) over looking the Avon River.
Service here is normally superb and the staff never use a number to remember where you sat or what you ordered. The food is very good though is a bit more pricey than other places. The coffee here is amongst the best in town so you shouldn't be disappointed.
Favorite Dish: I tend to get the full cooked breakfast and it costs $18. It includes eggs, bacon, sausage, mushroom, tomatoes & toast. It is quite big & should keep you going until mid afternoon if you are here for an early meal before exploring Christchurch. For morning tea I'll just get one of the yummy cheese scones & tea!!
This restaurant has to be THE place to eat out for breakfast in Christchurch. I dined here twice during my stay in the city and each time received good service and enjoyed delicious food. Testiment to the standard of this restaurant is the fact that on both mornings I dined there the restaurant was very busy. It opens at 7am and closes in the afternoon, only operating for breakfasts and lunches.
Favorite Dish: The best tasting coffee I had was that which I bought at Caffe Roma. One morning I savoured eggs benedict and on the other morning I enjoyed delicious porridge, made with walnuts, honey, apple, and sliced strawberries. That was topped off with pouring cream! Yum.
we stumbled on Caffe Roma by accident. it was mid morning and we were rather peckish - so wanted to have a nice cuppa.
Husband had a ice coffee and it came with fish chocolate - and they were awesome...chocate filled with strawberry marmallows - i had a fudge slice with 2 latte!!!
lots of nice thick soup on offering..it was such as blue cheese, bacon soup....
