RUGBY: Rugby is the unofficial religion of New Zealand, and you will not find a more passionate crowd than at Jade Stadium in Christchurch. The season begins in late February with the Super 12 (a provincial tournament with sides from New Zealand, Australia, and South Africa) and ending with the NPC (National Povincial Championships) in October.
Prices can vary. A ticket can cost as little as $15-20 for an NPC or Super12 match so go check it out!!
If you are a true rugby fan, you may want to stay after the game when the players will normally come out into the area in front of the Hadley Stand to sign autographs and talk to fans. Canterbury's favourite son (and All Black first five) Andrew Merhtens never fails to come into the stands to spend time with his fans after the game.
There is nothing quite like the atmosphere generated by a night game which will normally kick off at 7:30, and feature fireworks at half time.
The best provincial games are those between the home side (Canterbury) and their northern rivals Auckland, although the Southern encounters with Otago never fail to disappoint. If you come mid-season, you may be abe to attend an All Black test and see the best of NZ rugby on display!
