    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

The beautifully restored trams follow a 2.5 kilometre loop around central Christchurch taking in some of the most interesting sites. These include Cathedral Square, Aquarium of Discovery, The Arts Centre, Botanic Gardens, Canterbury Museum, Punting on the Avon, Victoria Square, and New Regent Street to name just a few. Using the All Day pass visitors can hop on and off at any of the nine stops around the inner city tram loop and experience the inner city sights and attractions at their leisure.

The roads can be a danger in NZ! This is a one lane train bridge. How it works is that you have to look ahead to see if the road is clear for oncoming traffic, then you can go ahead. Trains also go along this road as well. So beware!! There are also super windy roads with cliff on one side and a rock mountain on the other. The speed limit usually never changes from 100km an hour. The roads are so windy that youu wouldn't dare go faster then 40km!

Christchurch has an International Airport which is located about 20 minutes by car from downtown Christchurch.

Intercity provides buses from almost all cities outside of Christchurch.
The 'Big Red' Bus company provides the best form of transport. Taxis are far to expensive and there is a good chance you may get ripped off!
Most Bus passes from point to point and return will cost a couple of New Zealand Dollars ($1 USD).

It's worth visiting the nations trainline, TraNZscenic, for a train trip to either west or north from / to Christchurch. Off-season offers are often quite good value.

    Christchurch International Airport (CHC)

A very clean and efficient airport with many useful facilities and a few places to eat.

Their observation deck is superb. In fact, you can get much closer to the airplanes than anywhere in the US.

There is a circular tram line along the heart of the city, and it is a good way to view the city in a traditional manner.
