they also running free in this area, running off when approached also. often crossing the roads, leaving a mess.....so be prepared for the 'beast' and the sledride, if you know what I mean.
I supose it has its charm for cityslickers...after all, am I right!!??
flocks of sheep in perfect harmony with nature, often there is no other soul around and you ask, who is looking after them, I don't know the answer to that...nobody during the day. lately, whole flocks have been stolen of the paddock
the sheep shearing demonstration.
not only a necessity here in NZ, it is also a real sport with competitors from all over the world..and they have their own worldcup going. A NZlander often comes out as the winner..or, now and then an Australian, which is okay too
the sheep has no say in it at all, and losing the coat in the process
Lombardi Poplars...they greet you when driving towards Methven....taking the State Highway 1 from Christchurch to Ashburton, turn off shortly before the gasstation at your right...a long stretch takes you to Methven and the Poplars all the way with you
wonderful lush and fertile Countryside around 1 1/2 hours from Christchurch
and preparing the land for the next crob., late summer around Methven,. I would have liked to see the horses in action, but technology has taken over these days and maschinery are in place
