make sure

you have your Car/Campervan or what have you in tip top order. you will come across isolated areas, wild roads and no help for a while.check your oil, petrol, water, battery, bit food...your cellphone, although you might have no transmission, around the corner you could have:-)good weathergearcomes often handy, a blanket not a bad idea either. let someone know where you're going... Campground owner, Hotelreception or Informationcenter. when your car breaks down, stay with the car, don't wonder off, you got a better chance being found by the car, more visible from the air, then a man on his feet on a lonely road.NZ is not Aus, I know..but when you click on the pic, you might get an idea when in trouble..stay optimistic

a little warning

when walking in the Countryside, make sure you watch where you going. you find many Cattle stops, strong steel rotts are used and layed out quite widish. passing over them by car makes a ratteling noise and the the poor shock-absorber gets a good working over. walking across is a bit tricky too, especially in the wet watch where ya going, be careful at any time. there is none
