Favorite thing: Twizel is located in the heart of Mackenzie Basin.

Lake Ruataniwha, Lake Ohau, Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, Lake Benmore and Lake Aviemore are the hydro lakes area surrounding Twizel.

Ever wonder why is the Lake turquoise-blue in colour? The glaciers in the headwaters of the Lakes grind away rocks in large quantities of rock into fine dust which is discharged into the river turning them milky as the flow into the Lakes. The rock dust remains sank in the water for a long time and thus it reflects back the sunlight with turquoise-blue in colour.

the Road to Twizel

Favorite thing: the Mackenzie Country is an enchanting place, hot summers and cold winters, for people who like skiing, best opportunities here. I don't ski, but like walking, swimming and having a relaxed time in this beautiful area. Lake Ohau is right around the corner, so is the National Park of Mt.Cook.

Fondest memory: fresh Salmon and great Campplaces, contendment, for me anyway
