right around the corner from Twizel, the charming Lake Ohau. a winter ski paradise and in summer the locals from Canterbury and Otago have their holidays here..often with everything they got, except the kitchen sink

Fairly a tiny town is best known as service center and focal point for those who like good skiing at Mt Dobson on 2100m altitude, with a superb view over the Mckenzie Country.
Burk Pass makes for a stunning roundtrip in this area
the Pass is named after John Burke, who, after the trial of James Mckenzie for sheep stealing, settled in this vast area
