The Cougar Line Water Taxis will get you to where you want to go around Queen Charlotte Sound, from Picton. For the Queen Charlotte Walk, these guys do a champion job. They transport you out to Ships Cove near the entrance to the Sound, for the starting point of the walk. Probably though, the most important feature of their service, is that they take your main bags each morning, on to your next accommodation point. This leaves you to just carry a day pack with bare essentials. Much easier walking than having to carry a big full back pack.
The guys and gals of Cougar Line are very obliging, and well equipped to look after their fares. I found them to be friendly and capable and thoroughly recommend their fine services.
