Picton is a busy little Town, the South Island Terminal for the Cook Straight you have to ship in for Wellington or get off the Ferry from the North to the South. Situated at the beautiful Queen Charlott Sound, the Town enjoys a lush green from the Hills and the deep blue waters as a fine contrast. as a child I was told, green and blue colours do not combine...but Nature shows us otherwise, it goes just harmonious together, so I have became a little more confident with what I wear. you can hire boats for self-drive and enjoy your days in the Sounds, or hire a car and drive the 100km Queen Charlotte Drive to Havelock. Salt Production Plant by pepples46 south of Blenheim on the way to Kaikoura is Lake Grassmere, NZ Salt ponds.Seawater is pumped into the main Lake and through evaporation and relentless wind salt crystal starts forming. of course the process is a little more complicated, but that's how I understood it. from the main Lake the seawater has to be pumped in smaller ponds, where the actual evaporation starts SAXA is the Saltproduct you can buy in all Supermarket in NZ or the Natural Flaky Seasalt Product Leave a Comment Directions: you can't miss Lake Grassmere..on your way to Kaikoura.

Due to limited time, we visited three Marlborough wineries, of which the last – Cloudy Bay – was the most contradictory: the bouquet of an outstanding Pinot Noir turning tart after less than optimal service! In close proximity to Allan Scott on Jacksons Road nearer Old Renwick than Rapaura Road, our tasting began superbly with a Pinot Noir that conjured up images of lazy seafood lunches on stretches of lonely New Zealand coastlines. However, the experience turned sour when the attending staff member abandoned us right in the middle of our tasting. While another staff member belatedly came to our rescue and enabled us to finish our allotted selections, we refrained from any purchases. However, this may only have been a service hiccup, considering Cloudy Bay received a bronze award for service from an independent review in February and March 2009. Open seven days a week from 10am to 5pm. The Marlborough Wine Region with more than 130 wineries is New Zealand's largest wine producing region turning out 79% of the country's total wine production. Sauvignon Blanc is the predominant wine style (65%) followed by Pinot Noir (13%), Chardonnay (10%) and Riesling (6%). Allan Scott wines by JohanIsWeg Due to limited time, we selected three Marlborough wineries, of which the second – Allan Scott – was the most aesthetically pleasing. The cellar door staff refunded our modest wine tasting fee after we elected to indulge in a bottle of Millstone Sauvignon Blanc 2008. Standard of service was friendly and only slightly marred by the return of incorrect change, which no doubt was an innocent mistake on the part of the staff member. Allan Scott’s Cellar Door is situated midway along Jacksons Road between Rapaura and Old Renwick Road, Blenheim. Open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. Saint Clair Winery by JohanIsWeg The Marlborough Wine Region with more than 130 wineries is New Zealand's largest wine producing region turning out 79% of the country's total wine production. Sauvignon Blanc is the predominant wine style (65%) followed by Pinot Noir (13%), Chardonnay (10%) and Riesling (6%). There is an excellent map of the Marlborough Wine Trail at http://www.wine-marlborough.co.nz/documents/MapSummer09smallfile_000.pdf. Due to limited time, we selected three wineries, of which the first – Saint Clair – turned out to be our favourite. Home of Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc, New Zealand’s most internationally awarded wine, we were particularly enamoured with Saint Clair’s 2008 Sauvignon Blanc. Standard of service was good. An independent review in February and March 2009, bestowed Saint Clair with a bronze award in this regard. Saint Clair’s Cellar Door is situated on the corner of Rapaura & Selmes Road, Blenheim, and open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. This earlier opening time suited us particularly well and is the ideal wine tour starting point if you have limited time.

Titirangi Bay by didgeridorien This sound is in the Marlborough Region. You can go across Mt Stokes to the southern edge of Kenepuru Sound. The forest there is very natural and you probably won't meet anyone. Directions: Take Kenepuru Road from the Queen Charlotte Drive between Picton and Nelson.
