I left Christchurch at 4 pm and arrived in Blenheim at 9:15 so we stopped at a holiday park that had sounded nice in the description over the internet, Duncannon Holiday Park next to State Highway 1. It said it had river views, but the river bordered an enclosed paddock where you wernt allowed to camp. You had to pay with a coin for the showers and they were old and scummy looking, there was no where to put my clothes except on hooks where they kept falling on the wet floor. Our tent was bathed in smoke from the house all night, and we were at the far end of the camping ground. The worst part was being located next to the highway, the railway and near an airport, the sounds of trucks, trains and planes were heard all night.
The morning was no better, at 9 am a guy with a whipper snipper cut grass right next to the tent, right next to it!!
Definately not a good start to our holiday.
(btw the pic is the only one I had of Blenheim).
Unique Suggestions: Dont go!!
Fun Alternatives: Go to the other holiday park in town, follow State highway 1 out of town.
