Favorite thing: view over the sea from a friends house
what more can I say.....some have it all, good on'em
and if you haven't got an accommodation like this, you can walk on the Hills around Nelson, looking over the Tasman Sea and the Sounds.

Fondest memory: it is pretty, it is friendly and it is all there...in Nelson

    Church Hill

Favorite thing: right in the middle of Nelson, Church Hill a focal point with a purpose. walk up the steps and you have a great overview over the Town.
Nelson is the City of gardens and gorgeous sunset.
Her streets and parks echo the names of Admirals and Bishops, as well as those of ships and the people who arrived first in NZ.
Murderes Bay, where Abel Tasman meet his Waterloo, Maories opposed his idea of claiming the land for the Dutch. Tasman never set foot on the shores.
a National Park bears his name though.

Fondest memory: the warmth, the beaches, the people and the wine and the food that comes with that.
a perfect place to kick back, but lately too many have the same idea at the same time

    Abel Tasman in the background

Favorite thing: a 41/2 hour drive through from Christchurch and you see this pretty picture from the Lookout, down into the Tasman Bay and Motueka, then a mear 15min drive to Nelson.

Fondest memory: the Drive is already a memorable journey. pretty scenery from the Westcoast and its rugged Rainforest passing Mariua's Hotwaterpools, taking a dip., Coffeestop in Murchison and drive on to Wakefield along rich Farmland into a scenic open area and the Wineries.
at Mapua the Sea meets the Road and a smoked Salmon for Lunch has you ready for Nelson all the way along the Seashores.
