    Sunset @ Tahunanui Beach

Tanunanui Beach is located on the north west side of the city. You'll need to take a short drive along Haven Road (on SH6 - heading towards Richmond direction) & follow the signs to get there... relax & stroll (jog if you're keen) along the beach. There is also a playground nearby for the kids.

This is a spot for windsurfing too!

    Rabbit Island

by wkcsmt Updated Feb 23, 2005

Rabbit Island is about 20km west of Nelson (15 minutes drive from Nelson) & is a popular picnic spot. The island is reachable by a bridge that crosses the estuary behind the island. Most of the island is pine plantations, with a public picnic area in the middle of the front beach. The gates are closed @ sunset and there is no overnight stays allowed, so make sure you pack up & leave by the time set. There is a sign by the entrance gates letting you know what time the gates will be closing that day.

Tribull Drums is located on the road to Golden Bay. Watch for the sign about the shop with colorful handcrafted drums which are both great sounding and an awesome work of art.
