Arrowtown is a small and beautiful town located very near to Gibbston Valley. There are many shops and restaurants in this town along the Bukingham Street which are build in a beautiful and rustic manner. The famous Arrow River next to the town is also worth exploring via a simple walk.
This famous river cuts across the Gibbston Valley and is one of the sites where Lord of the Rings was being filmed. There is a bungee jump off the bridge, and is famous because this was the first commercial bungy jump in the world.
One of the ways of reaching Gibbston Valley is to take the double decker bus half day tour from Queenstown at about $30. The trip also covers Arrowtown and the Kawarau River bungy jump site.
Favorite thing: The bungy jumps off a bridge into the Kawaru River is quite scary, and even watching it gives me goose pimples ! Can't imagine I would ever try it :)
Favorite thing: The winery and cheesery can be reached via a small road off the main road leading from Queenstown to Arrowtown at the junction of the famous Kawarau River bungy jump site.
Favorite thing: If you have time, it will be very nice to walk around the wine plantations and have a look at the wine plants, especially under the cool weather of autumn.
