CHEERS! by Canadian_Traveler 5 Below is a an ice bar (one of very few in the world). The cost of admission was $25NZD for a 1/2 hour and includes one drink. It seemed a bit pricey but it was well worth it (especially since the drinks are $12 inside anyway). The music was great and everyone inside was pretty excited to be there. Most of the patrons are tourists and generally very friendly.
It doesn't matter what you're wearing because you'll end up wearing the same thing as everyone else. You will be provided with a hooded coat and gloves with plastic mittens on top. It is kind of overkill...it's really not that cold in there -5 C but you won't be sweating either. While we were getting dressed in our gear most of us chit-chatted about where we had been, where we were from, etc. When we told everyone we were Canadian...they had a nice chuckle, "I guess this is nothing for you". Walter Peak Colonel's Homestead by cnango The historical dining room in the colonels homestead was a very nice setting. After being seated we served salad, bread and butter and drinks of choice. We then proceeded to the huge hot and cold buffets. There was also a large salad bar followed by a dessert bar with a wide selection of sweet treats. Cheese and Crackers were later served in the bar next door where you could also order a dessert coffee or liquor. The food was good and it was nice to be able chat and get aquainted with other guests. It seemed to be mostly tourists but I also met some friendly locals as well. In the Shed at Walter Peak Homestead we saw a sheep shearing demonstration. The man speaking was funny as well as informative so we had a lot of laughs. After the wool was sheared off the sheep we proceeded outside. We then enjoyed an amazing demonstration of how the sheep dogs round up the sheep after responding to different whistles from their master. It was a good show and we then proceeded back to the Earnslaw for the cruise back after dark under the stars and with Queenstown all lit up when we returned to Steamers Wharf. It was still light when we boarded the TSS Earnslaw at Steamers Wharf. After exploring the ship a bit I found a seat on the deck. I met some nice Kiwis, Aussies and English people on holiday. We chatted and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the lake, it shores and the Remarkables Mountain Range. After a tranquil cruise we arrived at Walters Peak. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

by bryINpoland The Mini Bar was recommended to us by a local in the Alta ski shop. When she said it has over a hundred beers from around the world, I knew it was my best chance to find a pint of Hoegaarden ( A wheat beer from Belgium, almost impossible to find outside of Europe). When we asked the bartender “do you have any Hoegaarden?” and he replied “Original, Grand Cru, or Forbidden Fruit?” I nearly fainted. I must visit while out on the town in Queenstown. Try the Hoegaarden! (Original) Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: 11 The Mall QueenstownPhone: 3 441 3212

We were just in time to celebrate the anniversary of Sky Alpine Casino. We were asked for our passport to check our ages before we were allowed into the Casino. The Casino gave each patron a picec of cake and a glass of champagne. The Sky Alpine Casino is located in the hear of Queenstown. There were tables opened where you could get a lesson on table games without having to come out with any money. You may also choose from many gaming machines and try hitting the jackpot. The other casino is Wharf Casino located in the Steamer Wharf building. It is smallercompared to the Sky Alpine Casino but offers the usual table games such as Poker, Roulette, Backjack, and baccarat. Fun wheel and jackpot machines are also available. Look out for the cupon where you could get 1 drink free when you purchase another. Leave a Comment Theme: CasinoAddress: Steamer Wharf, Beach StreetPhone: (03) 441 1495

The World is a popular backpacker bar in the centre of Queenstown. At the start of the night, around six, you can have dinner. Later at night the place changes into a nightclub or bar/dancing. They play popular music, ranging from dance to R&B, Rock and everything in between. The best thing about the bar is the special way they serve the cocktails: in a tea pot! For NZ$15 you get a nice tea pot filled with a mix of liquor and fruity juices. There's a range of 15 different cocktails, so everybody should be able to find themselves a good one. The best way to find out what you like is to try them all! Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 27 Shotover Street
