Tandem paragliding is an exciting and adventurous thing to do in one of the world's Adventure and Party cities, Queenstown, New Zealand. There are at least three tandem paragliding and hang-gliding outfits in Queenstown. All are very professional and have a strong concern for safety.
However I chose to go a step further - learn to paraglide SOLO!
I went with Elevation Paragliding School , which is a school first and a tourist tandem outfit second. The owner, Shai, is a true gentleman, unbelievably patient with his students, and passionate about his sport. The course takes about three days, more depending on the weather. For the level of service provided, it's exceptionally good value.

on my 2nd visit in 2005, i went on a few more trips....
River surfing - with 'serious fun', $129nz for 2 hours on white water rapids on just a body board - it does exactly what it says on the tin - serious fun(but bloody cold!).
Hang Gliding - from Coronet peak, with 'Anti Gravity' for $195 incl photos/video clips. Got about 10mins in the air and get chance to fly it yourself. Absolutely great fun, with stunning scenery of the lake.
Walking - I walked to Queenstown hill-907m, takes about 45mins to the top with fantastic views of the lake/mountains.
Luge-had another go on both runs of the luge-good fun.

Among one of the other activities to do (apart from bungy that is) is paragliding - tandem naturally.
Discover Queenstown in a whole new perspective as this begins 400m above Queenstown.
The cost of the flight is NZD$185..00 and the gondola ride to the Peak is NZD$17.00

Much depending on good weather and the wind ! A few steps and you can fly like a bird swooping and diving at speeds of up to 80kph or just gently float and take in the stunning views. No experience necessary.

As a birthday present I got a tandem parapente over Queenstown.
Firstly we took a ride up the Skyline Gondola, then about a 10 minute walk up the hill to the take-off area. The run up is pretty darn scary. You have to run as fast as you can towards the edge of the cliff. Your brain plays tricks on you at this points and tells your legs to stop working!!
Once airborne, it was a great experience. it was so peaceful soaring over Queenstown like a bird. That was until my instructor took us into a vertical spiral!!
I had so much adrenaline running through me once we landed. Then my 'friends' decided to put me through more pain and took me jetboating.
