Hot air balloon

SUNRISE BALLOONS
Fancy taking a hot air balloon flight? I can't think of a more beautiful place to do this! Soaring over the mountains and lakes is just superb. Serene and almost surreal as you glide gently and relatively quietly over the landscape.
Great way to take photos, as you have no window to shoot thru and it's relatively smooth.
Fare for approx 1 hr flight, champagne breakfast on landing and return transport to launchpoint:
Adult $NZD395 current prices 2011
(from 1 Oct 2011 price will be $NZD445)
Child $NZD295 current prices 2011 (12yrs old and under, but older than 5yrs).

Sunrise Balloons will fly you over the rolling valleys between Queenstown and Arrowtown with magnificent views of the surrounding mountains, lakes and farmlands.

Flights start at dawn, weather permitting, when the air is cool and calm.

You will have the best views of Coronet Peak and The Remarkables ski areas, Mount Aspiring in the Southern Alps and Mount Tutoko in Fiordland National Park. You will also see Lake Wakatipu, Lake Hayes, the Shotover and Kawarau rivers.

Some locations that are used in "The Lord Of The Rings" including Mount Earnslaw which is one of the mountains seen in Isengard. There are also some very famous names that live in the valley and you will get an opportunity to see Sam Neil’s home and many others.

Our flight took uu up to 7,000 feet which is higher than the surrounding mountains. The air is surprisingly not much cooler than at ground level. Still quite crisp though ;)

After landing in a suitable paddock, or as in our case landing after bouncing a couple times, the crew will set up tables with croissants, pastries, fruit juice, tea & coffee some very good local bubbly too.

Adult: NZD $375
Child: (12 and under) NZD $245

Price includes transport to and from the take-off and landing sites, approximately one hour of flight time and a champagne breakfast at the completion of the flight.
