Favorite thing: Invercargill is at the bottom of the South Island. It has an average temperature during summer (January) of 20.10°C and winter (July) of 5.60°C. Although it is cold during winter, it very rarely ever snows, but does have very severe frosts. These can be - 8°C, which can be very cold, but by mid morning will have thawed out and the day will be quite warm. The average rain fall is about 1042 mm. Autumn is March to May, and can sometimes be very cold also. Warm woollen clothing and a coat is very necessary at this time of the year. If possible, try to talk to someone that has been to New Zealand in previous years.

We only stayed in Invercargill for a few hours, we spent the time wandering around the gardens and saying hello to a 120 year old Tuatara.
