Sit down or takeaway, step inside to order or use the window out on the pavement ..... from vegetarian to chicken or lamb .... doner to iskender to platters ..... turkish delight to turkish coffee ~~~ all is yummy and well presented.
Favorite Dish: Visited this place just after it opened in December 2003 and tried the falafel kebab (lots of yummy moist falafel with tabbouleh, green salad, yohurt and garlic sauces. Then this time I was home (April 2006) I tried a lamb doner kebab, soft warm Arabic bread with tender and well-spiced lamb, green salad, garlic and yoghurt sauces. Both times I got a small size, and I'd say its pretty big!!!

Zookeepers would have to be Invercargill's original trendy cafe.
There is a huge corrugated elephant outside and the decor is quirky with stuffed and metal animals everywhere.
There is a bar, but I've never been there at night - its slightly alternative.
The food is cafe-style meals, great for brunch in the weekends, or during the weeks if you've got the day off.
There is a children's menu with some cool stuff like chocolate fish (a kiwi thing) fluffies on it.
Favorite Dish: The toastie pies are yum, as is the honey-roasted vege pita pizza.

Bombay Palace has been open for about 5 years now. You can dine in or takeaway. The restaurant is cozy with a nice family atmosphere, there are Indian paintings and photos etc on the walls.
Service is good, and the wait for food isn't long.
Favorite Dish: I recommend palak paneer, chicken tikka marsala, the vegetarian samosas and gulab jamin for dessert.

Kings has been around for at least 30 years. They are known for their fresh and good quality seafood and fish.
The inside of the restaurant is decorated like a ship, which kids love.
The portions are generous and presented well. And the service is always good.
Lovely relaxed dining, comfortable and yet still intimate.
They also have a takeaway section attached, where you can buy ready-cooked food, or fresh seafood to take home and cook.
Favorite Dish: Tiger Prawn Tails -tossed with roasted cashew nuts and served with sweet chilli and coriander-scented crisp noodles.
And of course their oysters - raw, kilpatrick, battered.....

Lone Star Invercargill is a top spot you're looking to warm up by a nice blazing fire to enjoy an amazing meal. The food portions are gigantic, their cheesecake slices are legendary!
There is a real family atmosphere on the weekends, during the afternoon. And at night it's a cool place to hang out with your mates before heading into the city for the night. And there's a bar attached.
Favorite Dish: do gooder enchiladas Enchiladas filled with slow roasted vegetables, caramelised onions and lite cottage cheese. Oven baked and topped with lightly spiced tomato and fresh herb sauce, and shaved parmesan. Served with a green salad and buffalo chips.
the mean green burger Lentil patties, tomato, gherkins, mushroom, onion, beetroot, avocado, fresh herbs, lettuce & coleslaw (egg & cheese optional) between two wholemeal buns splashed with organic tomato & gherkin relish & a yoghurt mayonnaise served with buffalo chips & a green salad.
And for pudding, you can't beat the banoffi pie or cheesecake of the day (try the kahlua and moro bar flavour).
