La Toscana is an Italian spaghetteria/pizzeria in Te Anau which saved us from starving beause of a late arrival in the city!
The staff is very friendly, as well as the restaurant atmosphere.
Food is also tasty, definitely the best Italian food we had in New Zealand!

under chefs specials was listed as Chips yes chips - should have left then and it didnt get any better
service apalling- waiter left in the middle of taking my order to take the order from the asain bus tourists - while was paying the bill the waiter left to attend to the asain bus tourists - VERY RUDE !!!!!!!! while i was paying him
food dreadful slop - since when has chinese had frozen carrots peas and corn in it - like the ones you buy at the four square store or coles all neatly cut into little cubes - this is the most dreadful meal
NOT AUTHENTIC CHINESE
OVER PRICED AND EXPENSIVE
my tip if ur not asain stay away because u will only be served slop with frozen vegetables - no nice steamed brocolli or asian greens like bok choy
3 STAFF MEMBERS WERE UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT I WANTED RICE AND NOT A FORK
ABSOLUTLEY DREADFUL - DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY - THEY DO WELL ENOUGH WITH ASAIN TOURIST BUSES

It's on a lovely old cottage on a side street.
The interior is very cosy, decorated with old stuff. The guet book and some pictures on the wall will reveal that this was the place chosen by the LOTR film stars and staff for a great food experience.
It also has a garden bar.
Favorite Dish: Delicious venison as well as seafood and a superb passionfruit cheese cake I'll never forget.
We had dinner there twice. Why look for another restaurant if we had had such a good experience?

The restaurant is in an old settlers house and has a great cosy feeling. The staff are really friendly. You can't make bookings, you just have to show up and hope they're not full! The staff at our motor park recommended the place to us, and we ate here both nights we were here.
The food is fesh and local with a modern twist and includes venison, lamb, duck and salmon. The salads are great and the desserts were great :)
Favorite Dish: My favourite dish was the loin of venison served with sweet potato and roasted beets - I'm getting hungry just thinking about it again lol.

There's a display of meat that you choose and then present to the chef. Select the way you want it cooked, and it'll be on your way soon enough. The meal comes with as many helpings of salad at the salad bar you wish for.

Standard food thats available in any subway across the world! Not too many vegetarian options that we found for our late lunch, so we stepped in here and had some good sandwich and finger chips.

Favorite Dish: Satay seafood with deep fried mushrooms.
