Fishing is a very popular travel and tour activity at Bay of Islands which is very rich in all species of fish. There are organised fishing trips from the Wharf, Paihia in the North Island of New Zealand. Of course you don't expect to fish such a large shark as depicted on our photographs on the right. The large shark displayed at the Wharf in Paihia came from deep sea fishing! We are placing the photographs here just to let you know that there are lots of fish at Bay of Islands for you to fish if you are keen on fishing trips!

The experience is one of a lifetime. The moment it is your turn to jump is an undescribable feeling.. When you look down all you can think of is f@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ck. And then you're on your way down. 40 seconds of freefal from 12000 feet. So many things go through your head and at the same time your mind is blank. Just the ground in your sight and of course the wonderful view. I'm like a bird!!!!

I have done the Milford Track in Fiordland NP, Did a day on the Routeburn Track where we walked up to Key Summit from the Divide. Hiked up Mount Luxmoore on the Kepler Track. Tramped up the Ben Lomond mountain in Queenstown. I also did the Tongariro Crossing in Tongariro National Park. Apart from these longer tramps you can doa lot of short hikes all over the country. Take a look at the Department of Conservation's (DOC) website to get an idea. If you want to to the populat tracks such as Milford, Routeburn and Kepler you would do good by booking them in advance, especially the Milford is immensely popular and should be booked a few months in advance. The bigger cities such as Christchurch have some excellent courses to play and they will also hire clubs etc so you don't need to bring your own. Christchurch, for example, has approx 20 courses in or around the city so there is a very wide choice of where to play.
You can hire most of what you need. If you are playing one of the flasher courses then you will likely need soft spike golf shoes. Many courses don't like people wearing jeans or tee shirts - I don't tend to play on those courses - so be prepared to dress up a bit.
Cost will vary widely but expect to pay $25 to $40 for an urban 18 hole course and between $10 & $15 at smaller country clubs. Remember that in NZ, a country club is not the same as in the USA - in NZ it is a small place that welcomes everyone Leave a Comment Theme: Golfing

Cricket is a summer sport and played in NZ from October to April, weather permitting. The cost will vary greatly depending on who is playing. Approx cost is $40 for a seat at a 50 over game and you will wan to have a bit of money for food and drinks.
If you are going to have a look make sure you bring something soft to sit on and a bit of food. Like many sporting places around NZ you cannot bring anything to drink with you due to liquor laws etc etc. It's all a bit stupid but there you have it. Leave a Comment Theme: Sports Watching

There are professional hunting and fishing guides in most of the prime areas.
The bush and back country of New Zealand needs to be highly respected because it may look "tame" however overnight the weather can change and become very dangerous and unforgiving.
Every year overseas visitors get into trouble in our bush and hills, for being ill prepared and lacking in warm clothes, food and other survival equipment. Leave a Comment
