As you drive around NZ you will notice paddocks with thousands of sheep. They are fine when they are in their paddocks but when the farmer wants to change paddocks watch out! Sheep have right of way!
Make sure to fill up your fuel tank in time. This may seem a lousy kind of advice but in less populated areas you may have a hard time finding a service station when you urgently need one.

At the West-Coast (also known as 'Wet-Coast'), make sure you wear insect repellent against the sandflies, as they can give nasty bites, which will bug you for days.

When travelling in NZ it is important to drive defensively as British citizens are allowed to drive on the road.
Watch out for the sheep!!!
We have more sheep than people in New Zealand but they very rarely cause traffic jams!!!!!
Beware the fierce Kiwi, this flightless bird has been known to derail trains and overturn large vehicles . . . ;-)
Be careful of sandflies when you stay on the beach and near them. These annoying little mosquitos come by thousands during the whole day... so... use a lot of repellent if you need your blood !! :)
