When you hire the car don't return it and then get a lift to the airport. Use your car to check in (must be done a staggering 3 hours in advance) and then take the car down to Alofi and have a nice lunch (this is not an airport that has a food court) and then return the car and get a lift to the airport. We sat in the boiling middle of the day sunshine looking enviously at the people that knew to do this.
There is currently only 1 airline which flies out to Niue - Royal Tongan Airlines.There are 3 weekly flights to Niue, stopover in Tonga.
