Norfolk Island is a very friendly place and everyone says hello! Even when driving. You get waves of every kind from the lazy just lifting a finger from the steering wheel; the gradually more energetic two to three fingers; then there's the whole hand just off the wheel; to the whole hand up by the face (no movement yet ). Now we include movement of the hand from stationary, the 'royal' variety through finger wiggling to the enthusiatic whole arm moving! I got worried about the lady who uses both arms!!It's infectious though - you start with a few self conscious finger raises and before you know it you are up to the hand raise!This wasn't all that strange to me as it has been a custom is rural Australia for years.
