For around $100 per trip you can join a fishing charter. There's a couple on the island and they both tend to catch the same species so you can take your pick there.
We chose Dave Bigg and he was well organized though your entry into the boat and water is a little different than elsewhere as you have to first board the boat on land and then you are swung out over the briny by a crane and then lowered.
We caught five species, the main one cod but trumpeter (or sweet lip as they are often called) was probably the most sought after species.
We also landed one kingfish which indicates that if we'd had live bait a lot more would have been landed.
Equipment: All the rods supplied used egg beater reels and you may find yourself side by side with 5 other people on one side of the boat which tends to lead to tangles but, that's the way it is.
Dave uses a drogue chute to slow the drift of the boat which is useful in maintaining your position.Related to:

Norfolk Island is ideal for golfing. The gras is green. The weather is great and the golf is one of the cheapest in the earth. I played too. But I am not sure I played right. :)
