Was fortunate to be taken on the Sirena Submarine tour off Saipan Lagoon. The lagoon is an amazing aquamarine colour. I boared a motor boat which took us out to the "yellow sub" which looked kinda small in the water but was suprisingly spacious inside. The interior is airconditioned which was so nice after the humidity outside. Inside the sub there are velvet seats...interesting and rather plush, the large viewing port holes make viewing a delight. We descended completely to the bottom of the lagoon and discoverd some historical sunken wrecks. There were WW2 planes, props, jeeps, and large boats.......one with a machine gun attached. Like many diving areas in the Mariana Islands a lot of the ammo is live. All the wrecks we viewed from the sub can be dived on. Much to my delight there were several turtles following us, beautiful creatures and I saw a graceful manta ray "flying " across the bow of a sunken wreck. The corals were lovely, schools of colourful tropical fish were right at home in the wrecks. This submarine is the only genuine coast guard approved sub in the Northern Mariana Islands. A very relaxing journey into the deep blue. Perfect for those not wanting to get their feet wet. I however just wanted to get out and dive................well worth it a very enjoyable experience. Address: Telephone the company direct/book thru hotelPhone: =1 (670) 3227746Directions: I suggest that you organise the trip through the concierge at your hotel, this way the friendly folks at Submarine Sirena will collect you in the bus free of charge. The dock was a little difficult to find.Website: www.submarine.co.mp Other Contact: submarine@saipan.com

Boarded another motor boat and took a trip to the small island of Managaha. Crossing the lagoon again was beautiful, I am still blown away by the blues of the ocean. I have never seen anything like it anywhere in the world. The depths of the Marianas Trench creates some amazing spectrums of blue/green. This little island was a gem. Pristine white sands, clear water and gorgeous marine life. I hired some snorkel gear and plunged into the warm water. Tropical fish and corals were colourful and abundant. Managaha Island is what you make of it, you can lay on the beach and relax or participate in a variety of sporting activities. Snorkelling of course, parasailing, banana boat and jet skis. There is a little cafe on the island that served very yummy ice cream, just what I needed to cool myself down. Can be done in either 1/2 or full day trip. Stunning scenery. Address: Boats leave from Saipan dock.Phone: (670) 322 7746Directions: Book thru concierge at ur respective hotel. Try combining Managaha Island & the sub trip for approx $95 USD per adult and $60 USD for a child -book thru Pacific Subsea Saipan (prices subject to change)Website: www.managahatour@cnmi-guide.com

A must is drive, trek, or bike your way to Bonsai, Suicide Cliff, the Blue Gratto, and the lookout above Bird Island. Take the ferry out to Managaha Island, and scuba or snorkle. Saipan has maintained it's rustic and natural beauty, relaxing and taking it easy are a must, you can't help it, that's all there really is to do! Leave a Comment

by CliffClaven In between the sun, sea, surf and - you know the rest! - it's a sobering experience to take the five-minute flight to Tinian, which in the last few months of WWII was the busiest airbase in the world. Visit the A-bomb pit, where the atomic bombs were loaded for the flights to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and pause to contemplate the awfulness of war.

luscious & green :)) by nathasha cruising around the island on a bicycle, car or even on a skateboard ( yeah saw it with my bear eyes;)) is a must to get a good overall view of the place :)) the main attractions to be seen are by the circling main road, and if you stay on the paved highway, u won`t get lost :)) on the road you`ll find the best viewpoints for your scenery shots :)) Leave a Comment

by nathasha for the ultimate diving experience the island can offer, head for the blue cave...the problem is just that there are many diver groups that wanna go there during the time that the tides are favourable...therefore the only things you may end up seeing is ur fellow divers fins!!! as a japanese you would not mind as you are accustomed to crowded places....however, a near spiritual diving experience is probably bit hard to find unless u are really lucky....unfortunately i wasn`t!!! by nathasha the japanese WWII memorial is placed on very impressive rocks with drops into the ocean huge enough to get you dizzy. even though the memorial itself might not touch you, the powerful nature on the spot will!!! this is where many japanese soldiers jumped to the depths of the ocean to avoid being captured by the americans..
