The water, the water, the water! I was shocked when I first moved there, and when I brushed my teeth, it was with salt water! The larger resorts filter their water, but the cheaper hotels do not!
Also, there is a drug problem among the young kids on Saipan, ice is a favourite. And drinking is a lifestyle too. Just keep this in mind, you will likely not run into problems. Also, car insurance is not required there, so if you did get into an accident, you may have problems collecting money for it.

no matter where you got ur roadmap from, don`t believe it!!! even it shows a perfectly fine road connection between certain points, there might not be any road at all!!! this is what i came to experience a few times trying to view a few attractions on the map....first the road becomes unpaved, then it narrows and gets muddier, and finally u might be stuck in the middle of the wilderness with no road anywhere!!!

The tourist area near my hotel (or nearby the Duty Free Shop DFS) got several teams of 'LADY OF THE NIGHT' marching around in the evening, and there were lots of massage shops of which staff at the entrance would really grab your arm & pull you into their shops. Such phenomenon, to a certain extent, had a negative impact on the image of the island.
