Too much diving? Ngardmau Waterfall is fabulous!

by alvinwong

For a refreshing change from diving, snorkelling or angling, try visiting Ngardmau water fall. it's not very tall, only about 5 storeys high. But it is very beautiful with a rocky ledge overhang. The water cascades down in an astounding curtain of misty droplets.book a land tour with Sam's Tour. our guide was Malahi. She a local and very knowledgeable about Palau and Palauan customs and culture. She even brought us to her home village in Melekeok to visit the last remaining authentic Bai'. The day trip begins at about 9am and ends around 5pm. Transport is by 4-wheel drive.

Sea Kayak

by alvinwong

We thoroughly enjoyed our kayak day trip with Sam's Tours. Our guide, Shaft brought us around Nikko Bay. There were limestone caves to explore, snorkelling and war relics. By kayak, you get to experience a different side of Palau. Paddling amongst the rock island, you can spot sea birds like Tropic Birds and Fruit Bats.

Snorkelling

by alvinwong

Snorkelling in Palau's crystal clear blue waters was amazing. The diversity of corals, colourful clams and reef fishes was wonderful. Whilst on the kayaking trip, our guide brought us to several great snorkelling spots. We would paddle to a secluded reef, put on our snorkelling gear and jump off the kayaks into the thriving reefs.

Jelly Fish Lake

by alvinwong

You MUST visit the Jelly fish lakes in Palau. You might have seen this natural wonder on nature documentaries on NGC or Discovery Channel. It was the main reason why I chose to visit Palau. It was amazing to swim amongst the ga-zillions jelly fish. Don't worry, they are stingless since all their stinging nematocysts have been lost to their isolation in the limestone marine lake. The jelly fish made their living by their symbiotic algae (zooxanthellae). They have to sun themselves to allow the algae to photosynthesize.Tip 1: bring suitable footwear since you have to climb up and down a small hill to access the lake. the island is limestone, so the surface can be sharp and slippery.Tip 2: don't lift the jellyfish out of water. their bodies will be damaged that way. move gently and do not kick violently because you might accidentally damage these delicate creatures

Rent a boat! You see Palau...

by Kristin21

Rent a boat! You see Palau called as the 'hanging garden'. There are a lot of little isles, green from the top to the bottom, look like a swimming forest between the sea. I´ve never seen this before. It looks great! The best way to see the most beautiful places is to take a little boat include an leader living in Palau. He knows all the wonderful places to dive and snorkel between the little isles.

Scuba diving. I recommend...

Scuba diving. I recommend DivePalau with Keith. He does a good dive briefing and shows you both the big and small underwater. He is perhaps the best under water guide in the business. You get to see a great variety of marine life on his dives and I recommend two or three days of diving with him.
