This is an interesting place to visit to see how issues to do with PNG ecology are being addressed.Ecological and anthropological research shows the value of wild resources, such as medicinal plants and bush nuts, and the superiority of indigenous land management systems in the wise use of rainforests. The institute is abuzz with insect life! I stayed here for one night. They only had flyscreen for windows. I felt very close to nature.
The Institute was established in 1971 and after 25 years of existence has become one of the leading research centres in PNG. The institute promotes biodiversity conservation and offers landowner and environmental awareness programs.
urrounded by green forest vegetation and enjoying a cool highland climate, the institute's facilities consist of laboratories, a natural museum, insect and butterfly ranch, a zoo, teaching facilities and guesthouse accommodation for visitors.
