    Only a few steps away from the Davara Hotel, and located on the beach side of the road was the local Returned Services League (RSL) Club. This is the Australian version of the Canadian Legion, etc. where war veterns can congregate with each other. Of course, they are always looking for members so we joined for a nominal fee. Within their fenced off and gated grounds, they had a large building containing their restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating as well as games and video TV rooms for the children. The back side of the building fronted onto the Coral Sea and those Casuarina trees, and tables like those in the pic were scattered around this area. Food and drinks could be ordered from the long bar area with the red flap in the pic.

    It became a regular Friday night thing for several of the families at Elcom to wind their way down the twisting hillside streets to the RSL Club. While the children played away inside the compound, we would grab ourselves an outside table as darkness fell and just enjoy the sound and feel of the Coral Sea while we sat under the trees, ate and talked. The Barramundi fish (a type of very large freshwater Perch) dishes here were some of the best I ever had!

    I guess Ela Beach will always hold a special place in my heart, because we spent our first week in PNG located across the street from this scene when we were put up in the Davara Hotel by Elcom. Whilst they were sorting out our company housing situation, we could relax on our 3rd floor balcony staring out at the Coral Sea! We often took walks along the beach, enjoying the cooling breeze off the sea and the swaying of the Casuarina trees that lined the street along the beach. The hotel itself had a nice little bar area that we enjoyed on a couple of occassions after the kids were in bed, pondering what our next 3 years was going to be like!

    This is a large swish nightclub with an outdoor dancefloor that reminded me of Halikarnas nightclub in Bodrum, Turkey. The owner is Greek, so it has a Greekish theme to it. It's got the full works of what you'd expect from a trendy venue.

    Smart casual.

    This one is attached to Crowne Plaza which has a balcony overlooking the streets of Port Moresby. Lots of well-to-do locals go here. Thursday nights is Ladies night!

    Great place to meet friendly locals. Live Band, pool tables and unfortunately, poker machines. It appears that bars in Port Moresby have special nights. Aviation night for airport workers, Ladies night for the ladies, Hospitality night for those working in restaurants and bars.

    Exclusive area that is popular with expats in Moresby. A bit elitist for most Moresbians, but the view is to die for. Great for a beer or two and good seafood
