There is quite a large area for sports in Murrurundi : There even seems to be a horse-racingtrack, see it in my main picture here. And at the opposite side of the street you will find a cricket-field (see it in my last 2 photos)

You will find a large swimmingpool in Boorowa, right next to the large recreation-area in the centre of the village. I did not go there, as it was closed already, but I could take a look through the fence and can imagine that is the best place to spend a great day, when it is hot in the spring or summertime. I was there in November and it was a really hot day there !
Open daily from 01.00pm till 06.00pm !

For those of you who have ever followed World Rugby, I am sure the words Jade Stadium have come up on multiple occassions. Although it is now known as AMI stadium, this place is a wonderful place to watch rugby. It is the home to both the Canterbury Crusaders, a Super-14 team as well as Canterbury's provincial side. I had the opportunity to watch a match, and it was everything I expected! For entertainment value, I also wore the opposing team's colors to the match, yet everyone in the crowd was very accepting of the foreigner who was in the stands cheering against their team.
Ticket prices vary based on the team playing, and ticket outlets are available at various locations around town.

or driving over the weekend a bit further..Lake Ohau springs to my mind, an outstanding area where Mother Nature sure is on steroids!

If you are headed to Melbourne, one of the things you will definitely want to experience is Australian Rules Football. Although some aspects are similar to many other sports, this truly does defy definition. The scoring is simple, with four posts on either end of the oval shaped pitch being the only way to score. If you kick the ball through the middle of the inner posts, you make 6 points... outside the middle 2, but inside the outer two gives you 1 point.
The scoring is probably the least interesting part though, with many fans just going to watch these guys crash into each other. The rules are hazy enough that you can get away with anything less than murder!
The season is from Feb. till September, so you have a good shot at watching a match if you are here then!

The main reason why I went to Australia was because I had heard that the surf was so great. As a surfer, going there and getting to surf was a dream come true. The sets were amazing and the weather was beautiful.
I recommend to anyone that surfs to hurry and go to Australia. If you don't surf, it's a great place to learn how.
Equipment: If you are going to surf there you need obviously a surfboard. Get someone who knows what they're doing's advice on what size board you need.
Also, you need a wetsuit. If you can find one in colors other than black and dark blue I would recommend it because then you are less likely to be mistaken for a seal by a shark.

many of you travel with Kids, give them and you time out on the many Playgrounds I have seen in Australia and New Zealand. Kids will appriciate climbing, running and generally having fun in the playground, which are very well equipped and save, of course one need to have an eye on them.In Australia as well as New Zealand every little Town has such ..let them run..areas, and big City has many just a bit out of sight. watch out and let them run :-)
this one here is on New Brighton Beach/Christchurch-NZL
