A truly great spot is called, SECRET COVE. Located in Veitongo... shhhh! From Town take a bus to the Bird Park, then ask someone. If it's a weekday you'll no doubt have the whole palce to yourself. Another place is called... VIAKOLOTAI in Fua'amotu. This stretch of beach will go a couple miles with no one on it. This is truly a paradise.

a small bunch of our group hiked along a beach, past a shipwrecked yacht, up through mango groves to the western side of the island. We made it just in time for the sunset. But my camera ran out of filmALWAYS TAKE AN EXTRA ROLL!!!!!!!

Apparently most travellers miss out a visit to the Ha'apai Islands when in Tonga. Unfortunately I experienced pretty grim weather while I was there, however the beaches on Uoleva Island were still amazing.Uoleva Island is the next island immediately south of Lifuka. From Pangai (the main town - on Lifuka), you can get a boat (a dinghy with an outboard on the back), to Uoleva (I paid T$7.50 one way). I travelled there one afternoon with a Spanish photographer who was going to stay at one of only two 'resorts' on Uoleva. The Captain Cook Resort has changed its name to the Hideaway Resort. The place didn't look too appealing to me, but my Spanish friend was happy to go there. Just along the same stretch of beach is another resort (Jane's Resort - I think), which is newer (it's not in LP), and looked nicer. Apart from these very small resorts, no-one lives on the island.I should point out...
