2. Plasters, gauzes, cotton.
3. Intestinal disinfectant, for traveller’s diarrhoea. Eventually, hydration salts.
4. Bacterial flora integrator, for after use of antibiotics or diarrhoea.
5. Vitamin C and beta-carotene, to improve your skin protection against sun exposure.
6. Anti-pain, to relieve pain like teeth pain or sciatica.
7. Insect repellent and relief for insect bites (I recommend a visit to this site http://www.bugspray.com/).
8. Antibiotic with large spectrum, against eventual infection.
9. Fever and headaches relief.
10. Anti-nausea, against sea, plane, and auto sickness.
11. Throat pain tablets or spray.
12. Nasal decongesting.
13. Thermometer.

1. Humid handkerchiefs.
2. Disinfectant gel.
3. Plastic or cardboard plates and glasses.
4. Water covers (from paper), for when the toilets are “indescribable”.
5. Roll films and videocassettes, as many as possible.
6. Video and photo cameras, including an underwater one or more; check the batteries to be full!
7. Light tripod, for when you are shooting a sunset or on a deserted island.
8. Batteries, better rechargeable (they get unloaded soon because of the humidity; in this case, you need a loader too).
9. Books, play cards, for plane travel and rainy days.
10. Snorkeling equipment.
11. Beach towel, a big one; also useful to protect fragile objects in your luggage.
12. Plastic bags, for food keeping, dirty stuff etc; do not leave them on the beaches!
13. Lighters, not only to light your cigarettes but also candles, lamps; they are also an appreciate present.

Take a sweat-shirt / jumper. In July it can get very chilly in the evening in Nuku'alofa. There was one night where I was very thankful I had a big heavy pull-over.
Take Mosquito repellent!
It's a good idea to pack your own snorkel and flippers. If you get invited onto a yacht or go beachcombing, it is handy to have your own gear. I wasn't going to bother, but I am really glad I did now! Leave a Comment

25. Scissors, screwdriver, and tweezers – who knows when you need them!
26. Underwater wristwatch.
27. Traveler alarm clock.
28. Electrical torch, indispensable!

38. Shampoo and shower gel - pack them well in some plastic bags in order not to have them dripping during the flight.
39. Mini-kit for sewing.
40. Visit cards with your e-mail address – simple, even made on your pc… to give them to the friends met during your trip.
41. Various travel documents – medical assurance, tickets, vouchers…

15. Eardrops, for eventual pain after underwater baths.
16. Anti-herpes.
17. Eye drops, to hydrate your eyes after sun, sea, conditioned air.
18. Anti-allergic tablets, against eventual allergy to some unknown insect bites or exotic vegetable.
19. Sun and after sun lotions, total protection 25/30! Eventually, hair protection oil.
20. Cacao butter, to protect your lips from wind and sun.
21. Miscellaneous: medical prescriptions, special vaccines, blood group, and organ donation card…
14. Block notes and pencils, for notes, postcards, thoughts, and… “presents”.
15. Hand dictionary, an English one and eventually a local language one.

16. Addresses and phone numbers, do not forget the phone numbers needed to block the Credit Card in case of lost or theft.
17. Passport, not expiring earlier than 3 or 6 months depending on the countries you are visiting;
18. License, in case you rent a car or want to leave it as a warrant.
19. Credit Card (most VISA and MASTERCARD) and traveler cheques; not everywhere, credit cards are accepted!
20. Backpack, a supplementary one, indispensable for local trips.
21. Water shoes, slippers.
22. Rope, for putting clothes to dry on or fixing a damaged suitcase.
23. Pegs, to use with the rope for clothe drying.
24. Plate. ATTENTION: DO NOT PUT THEM, ESPECIALY KNIVES, EVEN IF SMALL, IN YOUR HAND LAGUAGGE! I had my nail file taken away from me at the LA airport this year so, just think about a knife! Leave a Comment

A lot of cool, loose clothes and sunblock. The heat was incredible but the humidity was even worse. I don't think I had ever experienced such an intense combination. Luckily, the beaches are so beautiful, you'll never want to get out of the water.
Take some mosquito repellent, especially if you plan on staying on the off-shore resorts. I found that 400mg of vitamin B1 kept me bite-free even without applying repellent. Leave a Comment
