Airport Band

We took an Air Vanuatu flight into Vanuatu from Sydney. The flight took almost 4 hours... While on the plane you get feed some fantastic meals and all you can drink.

They don't have inflight entertainment so take a book or magazine if you get bored easily. We had 14 friends on the plane with us so there was no chance of us getting bored... ;)

When you get to the Bauerfield Airport they'll have a great little local band playing welcome music... :) Then it's a 10 minute drive into Port Vila from the airport...

If you get the chance...walk as much as possible when in Vanuatu...it is really great to walk around and see the locals. They all say hello and the kids love to see you... :) Everywhere you go you will see much more when walking. :)

The road near Siviri

You have a few choices when it comes to travelling around the island of Efate. There is a road all the way around - although it does have quite a few potholes and steep areas...

You can hire a bus driver to drive you around - it costed us 5000 vatu each (including meals and a guide) but you can get drivers to do it as low as 2000 vatu each.

You could also hire a car or 4WD for the trip and drive it yourself - just be careful because of the roads. You also won't get the interesting stories if you drive yourself - or know where the best places to stop are. ;)

You can also hire a scooter but they can only be driven around a small part of the island...up to Mele Cascades and around south to the end of the bitumen to Rentapao River.
