Favorite thing: experience the whole island? i got the pleasure of living on iririki for many years. the resort is fantastic, there are new owners there now and from what i hear they are doing a fantastic job, but the resort is another story.
the island itself is owned by the ifira villiage (the island behind) it is not possible for expats to own land, all under lease agreement. but iririki has many stories there is the missionaries home, and it used to be the hospital. it wasnt a resort until 1980. the resort only takes up 1/3 of the island the rest is bush and if you follow the trails around you will see remains of the old hospital.
Fondest memory: many fond memories the staff are fantastic, betty, alice, walter richard (food and beverage staff) are true hospitality people. these guys practically raised me then there is david from guest relations one of my many good friends. out of all the years i spent there i cant recall my best memory there are to many.
late night drinking sessions down at the water sport area. the up hill trek up to our house the magical sunsets seen from snorkelers cove the enchanting atmosphere at micheners restaurant, the early morning swims from the mainland fully clothed and pissed after a big night on the town.
