This is a nice restaurant with great food, great wine, and a great ambiance. You will pay, though. Most entrees cost between 1800VT-2800VT (about US$16.75 - US $26).
The wine list is extensive, and the French red wines are spectacular! We got a bit tipsy off ot that stuff.
The french bread and butter they brought at the beginning was wonderful. I could've eaten that all night.
Favorite Dish: The t-bone steak was HUGE and really good, but they have a tendency to undercook their meat. I ordered the steak medium-well, and it was RARE. Really rare. A couple nights later, we went back, and one of the people in the group, who likes meat rare, ordered a steak medium-rare - and he might as well have ordered steak-tartare! -- But he loved it. Whatever floats your boat. Just be warned.
I got the herbed baked chicken the second night and it was absolutely delicious.
Try the Le Croix du Pin Cab Sauv - very good wine!!
The restaurant is literally on sand just next to the water so it is hard not to be inspired to sample the local fare. Fresh fruits and vegies are readily available and came with the burgers and curries there. The only thing was, they ran out of fresh fish for my son's fish and chips!
The prices are reasonable but the service is a bit slow, as islanders are always relaxed as you know so if they say it is coming soon, expect it after 30 minutes later! It was worth the wait according to my son so no worries then! Make sure you are not so hungry when you first order! At least they give free ice for our drinks as the weather and the wait will make your drinks go warm I tell you!
Favorite Dish: My son loved his chicken burger with fresh salad. But you can smell nice aroma of herbs and spices from the curries the place was selling,. It was just too hot to order them at that time!
We had our Wedding Reception at The Rossi. We had preordered the Seafood Platter and it was the best seafood ever tasted!
The resturant is located right on the water front and you have views of Port Villa Harbour with its spectacularly clear water. The service is probably the best we experienced (except for The Tropicana Restuarant - kinda looked like a scene out of the movie The Bird Cage!)
Hurry though as they are knocking down The Rossi sometime this year........
Favorite Dish: The Seafood Platter........undeniabley the best and freshest seafood ever tasted!
This is another beautiful hotel restaurant. You get a free ferry over to the island from the centre of town, and then walk up to the restaurant and look back at town as you eat. It's very pretty, and very romantic, but you could also be anywhere. The food was lovely, and the environment was nice. My boyfriend loved it, and I thought it was nice so I suppose it gets a recommendation!
Favorite Dish: The steak was great.
This restaurant is so beautiful. It has a lovely view out across the water, and tables out on the lawn right next to the water, but the service is absolutely appauling and I would never ever go back. The first time we arrived to look at the menu, we had already been out to dinner and were just stopping by the check it out. The maitre'd actually ADMONISHED us for being 'so late' and told us that if we wanted to eat there we'd have to come back earlier. I couldn't believe we'd been told off when all we wanted to do was look at the menu! When we did go for dinner, we took a bottle of wine. As we were seated, we asked the waiter to open the wine and bring glasses. Ten minutes later we could see him setting one of the other tables. My boyfriend went over and asked him about our wine and he said he had forgotten. It took another 10 minutes until we actually got the glasses. Then, we ordered our food. The menu did not mention that the prawns would be battered, and I'm allergic to wheat. When they arrived, we asked if the batter was wheat. The waiter took the plate, went to ask, and then didn't come back. Finally, we had to ask another waiter what was happening, and the dish was brought back cold and we were informed that it did indeed have wheat. We asked if we could order something else, and were informed that the kitchen was now closed. If we had been served promptly the kitchen would still have been open! We swapped meals so that we could at least eat (now that it was cold) and then were told that since the kitchen was closed we couldn't have dessert. You would think that we were alone in this mess, but no kidding, I could hear the same scenario being played out in different ways all around us. A group of 8 sitting near us were already complaining when we first sat down. The entire meal was a debacle, if you're looking for a nice night, don't go to Rossi's!
Favorite Dish: The food was nice (if cold), but it really wasn't worth it.
Jill's Cafe has all sorts of hot dogs and burgers etc. The food is fairly plain but it seems to be a very popular place for the tourists... The cafe has a nice view of the water and an outdoor eating area...
Favorite Dish: I had a Hawaiian hot dog...the dog wasn't so good but the bun and filling were great. :)
This unsuspecting little bakery has the best meat pies! It's situated on the road leading to the Meridien hotel, just after the jail (!!) on the left hand side. They are worth the visit.
Favorite Dish: The breads and the meat pies are delicious, and cheap.
Local Vietnamese restaurant in the main street was a jewell - well worth finding! Great unpretentious venue, street dining, good friendly service, takes $Aussie and Vatu
Favorite Dish: Coconut crab in garlic/coconut cream sauce WOW! Absolutely the best meal I ever had. Not cheap at $A51 but for a once in a lifetime experience, it was amazing!!! Some restaurants don't serve coconut crab anymore, (I've heard people say it's an endangered species) but I also saw it on the menu at the Flaming Bull steakhouse.
We had lunch at both the restaurant section and cafe section of this place. The restaurant was definitely better food but the prices were higher. The view from the top of the restaurant is nice too...and you can watch the fish in the water below.
We ate at the Flaming Bull Steakhouse (attached to the Office Pub) on our first night in Vanuatu... The food was fine and the prices were reasonable (or similar to others)...
Favorite Dish: I had fish & chips and they were good!
The Waterfront Bar & Grill is a nice open air restaurant with a great atmosphere.
We went there to try the coconut crab but they don't serve coconut crab any more since it has become an endangered species so we had something else instead... The food was good and the location was great...
Although very affordable the food quality is low. The restaurant dishes we tried were packed with MSG and salt and whilst filling were neither healthy or satisfying apart from the simple fill value.
You will find locals eating there because of the prices but unless you are on a strict budget they are better skipped for other alternatives.
PLEASE do not eat the Coconut Crab in Vanuatu Anywhere in Vanuatu - it is officially an ENDANGERED SPECIES - this is why it is expensive...and stooopid tourists keep ordering - so it will soon be extinct - PLEASE consider, so many other tasty options!
Favorite Dish: Please don't eat endangered species like Coconut Crab!
Please do not eat this endangered species - tourists should know this so they can make an informed choice - I read one reviewer who even mentioned they knew this but didn't seem to care - how thoughtless people can be.

The restaurant is right on the bay, so you've got a great view anytime of the day. The staffare as good as the seafood. Locals provide entertainment on most nights.
Favorite Dish: Anything with seafood in it.
